Continuing on the whole danish pastry theme, this morning I went into Spar to get my too regular plain croissant. But they were out! For shame – I turned to the almond croissant, brought it to the till and paid. It was only when I got outside (oh but how Celtic kitten of me, neglecting to check prices until after the fact) that I realised an almond croissant is €1.85: the same price as yesterday’s “gourmet” danish in Carluccio’s, and a full €1 dearer than the plain version. Can anybody shed some light on this issue? Pricewatch? Cheap Eats? Rip-off nation, indeed.
